“Operating from day-to-day while experiencing symptoms of depression, grief or anxiety is tough! I'm thankful that you reached out, and I want to listen to you. I hope to be able to journey with you, in therapy, on your path to healing and wholeness.” – Yvette

About/Philosophy

Life experiences, as well as our biological uniqueness, have shaped us into who we are today. These include predispositions to some mental health, personality, and medical vulnerabilities. Our life experiences leave us with many great memories we cherish, but some experiences leave us with unpleasant memories - wounding the mind, will, and emotions. We are relational beings; we need human to human contact from birth for survival. Relationships offer the only means to thrive, learn, and grow. They are also the only thing which cause deep psychological pain and trauma. Psychotherapy creates a safe space for wounded people to work toward healing within the security of the therapeutic relationship. Yvette conceptualizes clients' problems through both clinical and spiritual perspectives. She believes that true healing and freedom come through faith in Christ Jesus and she is guided by the Holy Spirit in her clinical approach. Yvette believes in the Biblical truth of John 8:36, "Whom the Son sets free is truly free indeed". Her therapeutic practice reflects that freedom and healing are possible for all clients who are bound by psychological pain and trauma.

Experience

Ms. Dehn began her clinical career helping troubled youth in a group home. She also worked with the homeless to help them transition into permanent, affordable housing and stable living situations. In 2009, she joined Lighthouse Youth and Family services where she practiced child-focused family counseling. This allowed her to work in the community with local schools and advocacy organizations. She then transitioned into providing support for youth ages 16-24 in a workforce development program where she created groups and facilitied activities for youth in addition to being their primary counselor. Yvette has always had a passion for incorporating spirituality into clinical practice, and in 2011 she became a contractor for Safe Harbor Christian Counseling, where she was able to join her clinical expertise with her passion for Christ to assist clients in breaking the chains of mental and emotional injury. Having a desire to advance her career, Yvette earned a position as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center as clinical supervisor, where she could teach and supervise professionals. Later, she became the Mental Health Program Supervisor.
